Style Guide

Navigation

The navigation for this site will follow a heirarchichal layout. The body of the text may include links to other pages of the site or other web sites, but the main navigation will consist of the header and footer. The site heirarchy should not go deeper than three directories. The header and footer will provide links to each major section of the web site including home, about, assignments, style guide, site plan, stories, essays, portfolio, and other sections may be added as the site expands. Each major section that is added should include a link in either the header or footer of the site.

Within each main section of the site, each article for that section will be listed. For example, a link to each assignment will be listed on the assignments page, a link to each story will be listed on the stories page, and so on. The heirarchy should not go beyond three folders deep including the index page.

Typography

The typography on ShayneJensen.com will mainly consist of two main fonts- One oldstyle font for the title and and a lean sanserif font for the navigation menus. All navigation menus will include the same font. All body text will be a default web font decided by the user's browser settings.

Color

The color of ShayneJensen.com will be a grayscale color scheme that emphasizes black and white contrast. The goal of this color scheme is to remind the reader of a newspaper or paperback book. Grays will be included for aesthetic effect but the overall look should resemble printed text.

Logos

The Logos on ShayneJensen.com will be few. The main logo will be included in the header and echoed in the footer. This will be the main logo for ShayneJensen.com. Other logos may be included as long as they are small and follow the color requirements described above.

Graphics

Graphics must be appropriate and pertain to the subject they are presented with. Most of this page will be text-based, but graphics may be included for aesthetic purposes as long as the "printed text" decorative theme on the site is maintained. The majority of graphics on this site will be grayscale.

Content

The content of this site must be appropriate. The appropriateness of content will be decided by the editor. All content should seek to promote one of the following goals: completing assignments, entertaining with short stories, entertaining with essays, or providing information for a potential employer.

ShayneJensen.com adheres to w3c (World Wide Web Constortium) standards. These standards my be found at The World Wide Web Consortium web site.

Other aspects of the site will revolve around usability and adhere to the editor's personal usability standards. These standards will promote the site's use for all people including people with common disabilities.
